The Interactive Group Model
Jay is developing a theoretical model that explains how Interactive IFS Groups operate. It is based on:
Group Norms
Establishing the right group norms is the most important job of a group leader in the early stages of a group.
Capacities
A capacity is a healthy way of relating, such as Assertiveness, Compassion, or Intimacy. A growing edge for a group member is a capacity they are working on developing.
Basic Child Needs
- Safety – Being protected
- Value – Being seen as who you truly are and valued
- Autonomy – Being yourself and being fully honest
- Belonging – Feeling bonded with the group
In an Interactive IFS Group, inner transformation comes from having these needs met in the group.
